Pau Brasil = Birthname of Brazil

This is Pau Brasil, the plant that gives the country of Brazil it’s name. It writes,

“A tree that was often used in the past, in the construction of buildings and ships, due to high quality and resistance of its wood. The intense exploitation of this natural resource generated significant wealth and was characteristic of an important economic period in Brazilian history. The country was named after the Brazil tree, and the tree became a symbol of the country”.

Nowadays, it’s a premier wood for the bows of stringed instruments. However, it’s an endangered specie, and it’s trade is thought to be banned in near future, due to its high exploitation during colonial times and rapid decrease in nature for it’s value
