Machu Picchu

Before Colombus arrived to the New World, Inkas had the biggest empire in the world, with 10 million people from Chile to Colombia and 30.000 km highway, connecting major cities to the capital Cusco. They didn’t use any alphabet, wheel, horses or money. But managed to rule this continent with precise organization, still mysterious architectural buildings that uses huge tons of rocks on top of eachother, count of population&agricultural harvest and putting them on annual statistics by using knots, astronomical knowledge due to their God, the Sun.
.
Dramatically, conquistador Francisco Pizarro managed to conquer them with only of his 168 men against 80.000 Inka army on battleground, while trying to encourage his men by saying that they are “only” 40.000 people. He reports to the Inka messenger, that the king Atahualpa will be greeted as a friend, and he’s looking forward to meet him. Inka king Atahualpa, who wasn’t aware of strategies nor experiences of the old continent, accepts this offer to his trap. He marches with 5000 unarmed guards to meet Pizarro, on golden thore and crown, decorated by parrot feathers and carried on shoulders of 8 men. A Spanish priest approaches in fear to Atahualpa, impressed by what he saw. He calls out to Inka king to obey King of Spain and accept Christianity, before being rejected. So, with the signal of the priest, Pizarro’s men, who were hidden before for a surprise attack, rushes on Inkas with guns, cannons, cavalry. Terrorized by what happened and what they saw for the first time in their life&history with the sound of horses, cannons, death by guns, Inkas believe this was a punishment by their God. None of the Spanish die, while crushing 5000 men and capturing Atahualpa to use him as a puppet to rule Inka as they want. All those 400 year Inka heritage vanishes with this simple trick in a day due to the different way of thinking between those two seperate worlds.
.
Machu Picchu remains nearly intact, because Spanish never knew this place, until it’s abandon at the end of 16th century. It was then went under protective hands of mother nature with forests that surrounded it to hide, until 1911 to its rediscovery, just like pyramids of Egypt, the city of Troy in Anatolia or Angkor in Cambodia. Nobody knows why this city was built and why abandoned. And how Inkas carried tons of rocks to top of a mountain and shaped it finely to put them on top of each other, still remains mystery. There are evidences of schools and teachers in the city, remains of religious and astronomical relics, like a Sun dial for equinox dates. The balcony looking terraces are used for agriculture, which it’s rich soil was carried from other Peruvian cities. Canals are used to carry water from other mountain tips, which still works today by flow of water.
.
But one thing is for sure. Machu Picchu has become one of the biggest economy income of Peru with right advertisements. Everyday, thousands of tourists visit this place, with expensive transportation and ticket prices for foreigners. Due to being far away and power of advertisement, people weirdly feel so lucky to reach here, like reaching Antartica or even Moon, including me, though its actually easy to reach. I questioned myself a lot about this psychology. I guess, nature affects this too, by being on top of a mountain and seeing things from above like feeling at top of the world, including the feeling of being a small creature with added mystery of ancient ruins like you are in a different world, used by aliens before
