Castro-Chiloe Island

“Tosun Paşa” feeding sea lions, at the back of fish market of Castro/Chile.
.
This kid, his independence and bossy character, some rapid action going on the sea, sea gulls’ sounds, people excitingly watching the sea for some animals just like dolphins have once again returned to the Bosphorus, busy sellers at the market all make me remember Istanbul indirectly. But especially the bossy boy hahaha…
.
Castro is a small fishermen town in the south of Chile. It’s mostly famous during summer holidays of Chileans, for it’s penguin colony, sea food, natural parks, nearby islands, local houses standing on the sea with long supporting sticks instead of being built on land.

“Good day! Come inside the shop! Need any assistance?…Where are you from, Argentina? If you’re coming from far away, you can’t find my items again…Ooohh so you are from Turkey! Ahahaha! Very close! Turkish TV shows are very famous in Chile! Hey Fernanda, look, cousin of Onur! (a fictional Turkish character from TV)”…
.
The conversation would have continued until morning if I didn’t say goodbye. He got close to me, prayed for me to my ear before leaving. Gave me a lot of advises like grandparents.

Turkish TV shows are very famous in Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay but mostly Chile. I usually see them on TV screens or advertisement boards on street. So, people from these countries usually start conversations to me with TV series, a huge smile on their face, very interested to see a Turk in their life like a child shows an interest to a thing s/he sees first time in life for reality, where Turks aren’t common in this continent, continuing to ask a lot of questions about Turkey that they’ve seen on TV, like mafias, macho men, relationships hahaha xD
