Salar de Uyuni

Salar de Uyuni/Bolivia

It’s the worlds biggest Salt Lake with 10.582 km2 (Marmara Sea: 11.500km2, Salt Lake Tuz in Turkey: 1.665 km2) at an altitude of 3653 m.

Has a capacity of 10 billion ton of salt, in which 25.000 of it is extracted every year.

However, 50% of world’s lithium reserves are also discovered in here. It has recently begun to be extracted, destroying the lake little by little in the process.
