Uspallata Pass
Standing on the border line of Chile-Argentina, at the “Uspallata” pass (3832m) on Andes Mountains range, which draws the natural border between these two countries. My left side is Argentina, right side is Chile.
.
“Cristo Redentor” secures the peace of those countries, watching them on border line, saying “Sooner shall these mountains crumble into dust than Chileans and Argentinians break the peace which at the feet of Christ, the Redeemer, they have sworn to maintain”. It was erected after a peaceful agreement in 1904, when two countries were about the slip into a war with each other due to the border line conflict.
.
Chilean and Argentinian motocyclists are enjoying the view of mountains together, in an enjoyable&friendly atmosphere, after more than a century. One of them calls out and jokes to me, “Hey, you need to pay 10$ for taking my photo… “, and I’m replying, “Ok sir, I won’t publish your photo on this month’s Nat Geo magazine, goodbye”
.
I think, I’ll get a motorcycle when i go back to Turkey, to have a tour of my “lovely” country one day in future
